AMCHAM COVID-19 Statement
Following the World Health Organization's (WHO) decision to elevate the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak to a global pandemic and the urging of the Myanmar Government to limit large-scale events, AMCHAM has closely examined our operations and events to ensure we are doing our part to protect our members, our staff, and our partners. Until further notice, AMCHAM is suspending external events.

AMCHAM will remain open for our core operations. We are following recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (U.S. CDC) and the WHO to prevent the spread and transmission of COVID-19.

We urge our members and our committees to keep meeting using virtual means so we can keep working toward our shared objectives as a Chamber. AMCHAM is committed to facilitating this important work. We will continue to work closely with the U.S. government and the Myanmar government, in particular, with the newly formed Working Committee for Recovery on the Economic Impact of COVID-19 (unofficial translation), chaired by U Thaung Tun, on identifying and implementing helpful policies going forward.

We encourage all U.S. citizens in Myanmar to register for STEP, the State Department's Smart Traveler Enrollment Program to receive alerts and easily get access to U.S. citizen services in the event of an emergency. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has updates available on travel restrictions for those traveling to the U.S. We encourage you to contact those sources for more information related to U.S. travel policies.
